symbiosis

On steep mountain slopes, where vertical growth is challenging and

the soil thin, trees accept all the help they can get from what

surrounds them, especially rocks that tumble down from high up or

occupy the ground where roots are growing. Rocks are powerful and

unbending; trees survive thanks to their flexibility. Their encounters

are so unobtrusive that we barely notice them, a lesson in subtelty

and humility shown, I hope, in my images.
